Our crew turned off the pavement in Radium BC and ended up September glacier skiing in the the Purcell Range of BC Canada. A few heavy storms with cold temps and power flurries up high had us asking ourselves if we could go skiing. We knew we needed 30+cms of snow to even make it possible and sure enough, we found that much and more above 2,400m. The ice bridges were really thin and the temperature was affecting the snow on the steeps so that it was very heavy and slippery. The snow was bonding well to the glacier ice.
We had a great day making swooshes and blowing the dust off our ski mountaineering skills and gear. Play safe and have fun.
