For the last year or so I have been using a product from Colorado based company, Pakems. Pakems are a packable shoe that easily fits in your bag and are seriously a blessing to put on after a long day in ski or snowboard boots. Inventor Julie Adams says Pakems were invented for “drinking beer comfortably after skiing in.” Beer drinking shoes. What a concept!
These lightweight yet durable ripstop nylon shoes pack down to just over two inches and weigh about 15 ounces per pair. Each pair also includes a bag to store them in. They are DWR Coated so they are beer water resistent, insulated so they are warm and have a rubber sole for grip. They are kind of like winter flip flops in that they are just so easy to slip on. While maybe not the most fashion forward footwear, Pakems are a functional lightweight super slipper that skiers and snowboarders will find so comfortable after a hard day of shredding they will wonder what they did before using them. I found them great for standing on when changing my boots in the parking lot.
Pakems are available in both mens and womens styles on pakems.com for $60. Right now there looks to be a sale where many styles are 50% off making them great stocking packers!
