It seems rare that stories like this one have a happy ending. So everyone is breathing a massive sigh of relief now that Julie Abrahamsen, a Norwegian snowboarder who got lost for three nights in the Blackcomb backcountry, is back safe and sound with her roommates in Whistler.

It’s an incredible story of survival, and can be attributed in part to our unseasonably warm weather.

As one member from the Sea to Sky community put it: “I’ll take biking in January for the safe return of this little lady.”

Yes indeed. With all the bad news that we’ve become so accustomed to receiving, this is a story to remember.

Nice work Julie…we’re all really happy that you made it home.
