Day 1 of Wrangle The Chute 2016 is in the books and by all standards it was a success. Competitors and event staff worked together and the event ran some 80 participants through in record time. The warm weather that was forecasted took its time to show up and a cold Golden BC morning kept many shivering. But that didn’t stop people from throwing down. The event started with snowboarder females and then moved on to the standout of the day: the women skiers. The girls were pleasantly awesome and threw down with style and control.
There were some thrills and there were some spills but there were no course evacs and from what we can tell, no injuries.
Tomorrow’s venue is the traditional WTC location by the Heaven’s Door Yurt. The competition is a 2 day cumulative score and just over half of the competitors are expected to make the cut.
