Details are sparse right now, but it sounds as if a fairly experienced backcountry user was killed in an avalanche the Black Prince area on Saturday, February 14th.
According to Kananaskis Country Public Safety’s Mike Koppang, “all the group was actually equipped with avalanche safety gear and did a good job to get out and get an effective response.”
Unfortunately, one man, whose name has yet to be released, didn’t make it.
Our thoughts go out to everyone touched by this tragedy.
