What do you get when you combine hardpack, a monoboard, tight jeans, a fur coat, a chute, a kicker, a bucking bronco, a bad ass poacher and some of the most off the charts skiing you’ll ever see? Day 2 of Wrangle the Chute at Kicking Horse, that’s what.  If you were there, you’re probably still speechless from all the action, if not keep your eyes peeled for any video footage and book the weekend off for next year because this comp just keeps getting better and better!

Competitors definitely felt like they were at a big mountain comp this morning as they scoped the shralped venue from the top, but they stepped it up and the skiing at WTC  blew the minds of everyone watching. The reverse order starts made for an insanely exciting second half of the afternoon when the top contenders from day one made their way down the chute. The highlight reel starts off with Alex Wall’s impressive run on a monoski, and the unknown renegade poacher in a full-length fur coat that held up Jeff Harker in the start gate.

Wendy Burns, Emma Whitman, and Zoya Lynch threw down solid and technical runs  leaving the crowd guessing as to who would be the top three in the ladies field. A shout out to Rachel Findler for her ballsy line choice and epic tomahawk! It was the top fifteen or so boys that stole the show as they pushed the boundary of the venue further and futher above the exposed face on lookers right of the chute.
The extreme “Treadway drop” (Darryl Treadway’s winning line from Day 1) was hit from all angles (props to Jordy Kidner- the first junior to hit the massive cliff). Tight jeans and suede jacket aside, Carter McMillan looked good as he shredded the course with a broken thumb. Phil Hudec took himself to no man’s land and beyond as he tip toed his way through an intense no fall  and smoothly through a straight line at the bottom.  Fifteen year old Logan Pehota skied far beyond his years to a third place finish with ultra smooth style and super creative line choice. One of the most technical and exposed lines on the far right hand side of the venue looked  like a breeze when skied by Daryl Treadway, but without a doubt  run of the day (or maybe decade) goes to Matt Montadon who polished things off by spinning a clean three sixty off a 60 foot cliff at the bottom of his run putting him in first place.
